[The Beginning or the End?]
I’ve always thought about blogging during my pregnancy, but since I’m not a witty or clever writer I discouraged myself from doing so.  However, I’ve decided to give it a try even though I’m more than half way through, and just maybe the World Wide Web will find it fun and entertaining or perhaps this will end my blogging days.  I’m pretty sure my family at Alife/HOC will enjoy it.  Hopefully I’ll get Larry to pipe in a few sentences here and there, and throw in some fun photos to delight your eyeballs.  I’ll try to not include unnecessary grossness, but provide you some insight into pregnancy.
First off I would like to address the issue of morning sickness and cravings.  Those are the two most common questions I get now.
Morning sickness:Morning sickness generally only plagues women during their first trimester (1-3 months).  Morning sickness usually comes with nausea and vomiting and can be throughout the day not just mornings.   Some women however will have sickness throughout their pregnancy.  I was generally okay in the morning, but would have mostly evening sickness.  It was a terrible feeling to sit there at the dinner with a whole table full of Pastor Joseph’s yummy cooking and wanting to throw up.  But it was a blessing because I was still able to go to work every day.  There is a lady at my work that is currently on medical leave because of pregnancy sickness.   My evening sickness went away near the end of my 1st trimester.
Cravings:I’ve always had random cravings even before I got pregnant so I don’t think I’m getting special cravings with this pregnancy.  At least I haven’t been craving anything weird or abnormal like pickles mixed with ice cream.  I’ve read that you generally have cravings because your body knows that it’s missing something.  I must have a very complete diet!Did you know there is a disorder in pregnant woman called pica?  Pica is when you crave non-food or non-nutritive items such as dirt, drywall, paint, ashes, crushed light bulbs, etc.  They haven’t really found the cause of this yet.  Ask Yvonne, Jane, or Larry I think they may actually have encountered some patients with Pica.
So, other than my ever growing belly (which many like to remind me with the “look at you, you’re getting bigger!” comment) I’m feeling pretty good these days.  For those of you that don’t know yet Larry and I will be having a baby BOY.  Name unknown.  He’s doing well I think.  He moves around a lot and I can feel him turning, kicking, and apparently now that he hiccups I can feel it too.  Of course he’s the most active right when I am in bed ready to sleep.  It’s a crazy feeling when he’s moving especially if he rolls along my belly.  The best way I can try to describe a kick is that it kind of feels like when your muscle twitches but more intense.  Can you believe it?  There’s a human growing inside of me.  I can’t see him, but he’s there.  I guess that’s like faith huh? Maybe next time you’re around me you can catch a kick or two. Asking would be nice, and be aware that it then gives me freedom to touch your belly too! =)
