[Clothes and Glucose Test]
I always believed boys aren’t as fun to dress compared to girls. Your choices are just pants, shorts, and shirts. But as we started getting some clothes as gifts it is starting to make me more excited to think of what I can do to make the little man handsome and stylish. And I guess it’s a lot easier to dress a boy and they aren’t as picky (well, some boys). Here are some clothes from the Irvine kids (blue with elephants), Tiffany Chai (Orange onesies), and my cousin (monster truck onesie). Of course I can’t not get anything Disney for him especially when we had our 50% employee discount. It’s pretty big, but it’ll eventually fit him. So we have four sets of clothes that say “I love mommy.” Poor Larry, will someone get something that says “I love daddy?” I don’t want Larry to be left out.
Today I went to take my Glucose and Anemia Test. My red blood cell and hemoglobin count is a little low. Larry said that’s pretty normal during pregnancy, but other than that no signs of infections. The glucose test is usually taken around 24-28 weeks to see how your body reacts to sugar since there are chances of getting gestational diabetes during pregnancy, which is bad for the baby and me. You drink 50g of glucose (it tastes like orange soda), wait 1 hour, and then get your blood drawn. They will test how your body reacts to the glucose. Ladies, for future reference don’t wait to take a number at the lab when you return after 1 hour. This was my second time taking the test. The first time the lab tech didn’t tell me that I should go straight to the counter and to not take a number and wait for my number to be called. Because there were so many people waiting to get their blood drawn I didn’t get called until 1 ½ hour after I took the drink, so the test wouldn’t be accurate anymore. I wasn’t a very a very happy pregnant woman that’s for sure. Anyway, I heard horror stories about the glucose drink but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be. Some people said it tastes gross and makes you want to throw up (but if you throw up, you have to redo the test another day). The first time it made my stomach churn and I eventually had to use the restroom (if you know what I mean). Today, I was fine whew.
Kaiser is pretty amazing though. By the time I got home I received an email telling me that my test results were in. Test came out good and I’m under the standard range. Praise the Lord. Bring on the cake and candy!
